Just signed contract for a 2017 178 - will pick it up in 2 wks.  It has the channel on the door side, not an awning.  Looking at the internet, there seem to be several options for awnings, from the PahaQue visor to others.  Would appreciate some guidance ........

Also, I'm concerned about dirt, water, etc. on top of the slid-out, and was looking at covers.  There seem to be a large number of options - anyone with good experience?   How are they attached to the camper body - is there a channel up there?

Hey Teddy,

I have a PahaQue visor and a slide cover for my 178. Both are OK. There is a keder rail above slide on mine for the slide cover. Normally before bringing in slide, I use an adjustable broom to sweep the top, which removes debris.

I am not sure about the 2009-2010 models but our 2011 has the keder rail above the slide, as did the other 2011 models with the slide.  Quite certain all 2011 and later years have the keder rail above the slideout.  If leaves are a potential problem I get up on a stool and brush them off, only takes a few seconds.  Most of the time when camping this is not an issue, even in the fall when we camp a fair amount.

Tks for responding - is the slide cover also by Pahaque?

Also, I'm told there are two sizes off keder rail on some rPod years - one less than and one more than about 1/2" diameter, but I don't see Pahaque info on which their visor needs.  Guess I need to do more research after actually picking up the 178.

Teddy , Yes, all PODs after 2011 use the same keder rail size, the only difference is 179 is unique, for the slide out cover. Check back on your PahaQue site, it is self explanatory.

The keder we got for our slide out (R-179) is 5/16" or 8mm. The one over the door for the R-dome is 14mm (slightly over 1/2"). We have not gotten any for that yet; but we plan on making our own awning that slides into that 14mm keder.

We ordered our 179 with a R-Dome and got a deal. The slide out cover is under negotiation between the wife and I. I think we can make one that will work as well as anything purchased at far less cost. She thinks otherwise. Negotiations continue!
