Greetings group,

My wife and I finally broke down (like MANY others it seems) and purchased our first TT and chose the R-Pod because we liked how it looked, appreciated the construction of the shell, and the fact it would be light and easy for our current TV to tow.

We purchased a 2018 R-Pod 179 Hood River edition.  We tow with our 2015 Ford Explorer Sport, V6EB and factory HD tow package.

We only just purchased it in late August and got to take it out a couple of times into the Central Idaho mountains.  Luckily, the entire experience was very positive, spending almost a full week camping our last trip (with full hookups, yeah!).

We have made a lot of additional purchases in preparation for a much more eventful camping season next year.  We picked up a Champion 3100 watt Inverter generator (with propane hook up too).  Most receintly purchased a blue ox swaypro to get the weight distributed as Ford requires if towing to Class III.  It was expensive, but it really solved the rear squat.  We have already had to winterize, since our climate here in Idaho is turning cold.

Anyhow, I have been reading posts on here for a while, and have definitely benefitted from things I have read, and will read.  We are thankful to be a part of this community, and look forward to sharing our experiences (and where possible, help) to others.

Happy camping folks!

-Thom and Wendy

Welcome and congratulations. We really enjoy our 2016 179. I wish you many happy trips and the making of many great memories with your R-Pod.

Likewise, welcome and congratulations. We also have an R179 HRE. Unlike Idaho, we can also camp in cooler weather around here. We will be out again in a few weeks.

Am curious as to what a blue ox swaypro is.  Is it a fancy name for an anti-sway bar.  We have towed our 177 with an '08 Explorer and currently a '13 Explorer and have added just the anti-sway bar.  Have traveled over 26,000 miles since we purchased it in 2011 with no towing or mechanical issues.

It is a WDH with a modicum of anti-sway capability. http://www.blueox.com/trailer-towing/swaypro/
