I read an article in Driving Digest on Macinac Island.  Do they have a secure place to leave a truck and trailer at the ferry?

I'm disappointed now. I was sure there was a great story behind "Maniac Island"!

Here are links to both of the island ferry companies with their contact information.  Easy enough to ask them about secured parking:

Some nice campgrounds in the area.  Why not stay at least two nights so your pod would be safe at campsite?   Just an idea.

Retiree-pod has a good idea there. There are some full hookup campgrounds on Lakd Huron. The Pines campground at Wilderness State Park is one of our favorites. Across the bridge in St. Ignace is a state park and ferry service to the island also.

We camp at Strait's State Park (St. Ignace) at least once per year, if you book early you can get some prime sites that are at the edge of Lake Huron and have great views of the longest suspension bridge (5 miles) in the great U.S.A. As Jim stated above, you can get ferry service from St. Ignace as well.  If you book campsites along the water you will be boondocking, no electricity on that side of the road, no problem for us, we normally dry camp anyway.
