Hi, I don't imagine I'm the only New rpod owner in MA.  Our auto insurer is Geico and they don't write policies for pods in MA (why?) nor will they stamp my rmv1.  Any other MA owners out there experience the same scenario and how did you get round it?  It also seems very difficult to find someone to insure it, as soon as you intimate that the pod is registered in MA then they don't want to know!

Yup just went through this. I had GEICO and looked at a companies just to insure the r-pod. Unfortunately in MA we seem to have the archaic laws with regards to campers that we used to have with auto insurance before Mitt Romney. This one camper specific insurance company did do business in MA but would not insure the camper because I had GEICO. I had to pull all my policies and now am at Liberty Mutual for everything.

When we bought our house, we went with Central Mutual Insurance. We also have our vehicle insured with them and then added the R-Pod when we got it. This past December, we had the accident that put the vehicle out of commission and damaged the R-Pod. Central Mutual was wonderful about both getting both the Escape and the R-Pod repaired. The Escape was sold after it was repaired as we had purchased a Frontier to get us and our R-Pod home. We just got the R-Pod back from being repaired. In all of this, Central Mutual was great. I also like that we get annual policies and not just six month policies like we were getting with USAA.

Since Central has a regional office in Waltham, MA, they may be one option for you.

Thank you, I've spoken with RV America Insurance and they will cover us but it's the Geico part that's holding us back, I will switch auto insurers if I need to and I'll be letting Geico know this is the reason!

I bought a 179 in May.  I have USAA. They said no problem insuring it, however they indicated they have an "Affiliation" with Progressive Ins to cover RV's.  So I am now covered for my 179 by Progressive and my home/cars by USAA.
