We store our 180 in enclosed storage in Houston, TX. I've been leaving the rpod turned off and unplugged while stored. The storage unit has 110v power though. If I don't stop by and turn the fridge on prior to a trip then the fridge is not cold. So if we decide at the last moment to head out for the weekend, no cold fridge. Is there any down side to leaving the fridge on all the time so it is ready for a spur of the moment trip?

I wouldn't think it would be to much different than your housefridge or a mini fridge running all the time.

I freeze food and then put it in the fridge before a trip and then I don't have to worry about spoilage.  It helps cool it off and the food is fine until the fridge cools off. ( I don't have access to power ahead of time)

I prepare for a trip by putting the freezable packets in freezer. Once frozen they maintain the fridge in a cool situation while on the road. I can shut the fridge off, travel, then, start fridge again. The frozen packets keep it cool.
