Greetings all.  New podder here.  Been lurking for weeks doing my research to nail down what I wanted.  While I absolutely love the the color of the new blue ones my desire was to actually have one of the older style of 176t.  (liked the smaller size, lighter weight, smaller bunks etc...)  So with a lot of looking and some patience we finally found one in Florida.   I have yet to take delivery, still another week and a half until it gets here but of course being excited about it I've been reading tons about mods and maintenance and such.  In my course of searching I discovered a mod thread on the actual pod that I seem to have purchased.  The pod is called "Just poddinAlong"

Now with boats I know it's bad luck to change the name without consulting Poseidon.  Do you suppose it's the same with Pods?  Should I dare change the name or keep the original name in tact?

What say ye?

When I changed the name of a sailboat I used to have, I followed the prescribed procedure of running aground 3 times first.  It was the sensible thing to do.

The question is what is the prescribed procedure for an r-Pod.  Thankfully ours was never named by it's prior owner.

Intoxicating beverages must be part of the ritual.

Superstitions only have effect if you put credence in them. If you want to give it a name, go ahead. It is your choice.

I think that a solemn ritual makes sense.  Be sure to offer a libation in Hermes' name to each of the Cardinal Directions.  Remove all mention of the old name from the pod.
