Hello everyone,
Sorta new to the trailer camping.  Starting on my second season with a Rpod 182G.  I have found that the cushions for the dinette/bed are less than comfortable.  Has anyone replaced cushions for these and what type of foam?  I am looking at thefoamfactory.com and they have a LUX Regular foam that looks and appears to be an improvement.  Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on replacement cushions?
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,

We have replaced all of the cushions/mattress in our 178 from The Foam Factory.

For the dinette we used:

Lux Foam - High Quality

Firm foam for regular or heavy use. Lux Foam-HQ is a high quality foam suggested for seats, chairs, cushions, benches and mattresses. It has a typical life of 16 years.

(2.8LB /ft3 density with a 50LB ILD)

The Lux is a firm foam. We really like it for sitting. For sleeping, we use a topper (self inflating sleeping mat)

For our mattress we used:

HD36 Foam - Regular

Medium foam for regular use. HD36 Foam-R is suggested for sofa seat cushions, chairs, benches and mattresses. It has a typical life of 7 years.

(1.8LB/ft3 density with a 35LB ILD)

Mattress, HD36 Foam - Reg (M) WITH DACRON WRAP

Dimensions: 8" x 39" x 74" $222.63

Custom Gray and White Striped Cover Cover

Size: Smaller than Twin 39" x 75" Thickness: 8" $69.99

We could have (should have) gone with 6" for the mattress. In retrospect 8" seems a bit overkill. It's a fairly firm mattress.

Hope that helps,

fred

I just ordered a replacement from FoamTouch for our 179 dinette seat.  I like that you can custom order the foam size: http://foamtouch.com/custom-cut/
I haven't got it yet, but it looks promising.  The old foam lasted about a year, so anything has to be better.
