I got in on the DIRECTV Now promotion that gives me 100 channels for $35 a month and since I'm on AT&T Wireless, streaming doesn't use any of my data allotment.

That's a great and elegant solution for spare 4th Gen Apple TV!

Super Bowl party at TheBum's pod!! Thumbs Up

I think it'll be a bit crowded to get everybody in there, but we can sure try. Maybe we could set a Guinness world record.

You might not want to spend the dollars but Slingbox on you home service gives you everything off your home service. Whether it is Dish, DirecTV, etc. the cost is the receiver $99-$200. No service charge from Slingbox. Recommend you do have unlimited service or WIFI on your iPhone or iPad. Even get the RV channel. ๐Ÿ˜‚

You also need a decent upstream data rate on your home Internet.

Absolutely.  That is always the case when dealing with video streaming.  If the service is crappy it will freeze or stop.  With the SlingBox you do have the option of SD or HD streaming.  I have not had any trouble no matter where I have been using LTE on my iPhone and my AT&T Uverse internet.

I'm sure most are aware, but there is generally a huge difference between downstream (to you) and upstream (from you). It's easy to check @ Ookla Speedtest

It's probably a good idea for anyone to check their available bandwidth and requirements before investing in any solution. I know. I have spent good money on bad solutions.

There is also a good smartphone app for you to test on the road.

Testing just a few minutes ago...

From Home (Xfinity/Comcast)
