Topic: 171 - Mod - Skylight Posted: 13 Jun 2012 at 7:57am |
Ours got replaced under warranty because the fan itself went kapoot on us. To our surprise we ended up with the clear tinted cover on the new one. What a difference, it really is like a moonroof, it's so much nicer to take a shower in there now, we don't even turn on the light now. And even better is at night, if it's even a relatively clear night and there is some moonlight then there's no turning on the light at night for potty breaks either. It's amazing how much it lights up that whole area!

Sounds great. However, after all these years, I seem to know where everything is. At this age, not sure I want to see myself any better than in poor light. Of course, it's a personal thing. Enjoy your new clear covers. Safe Travels.

I just did this mod last weekend and it made a HUGE difference. It's like the cover is open all the time. We barely have to use the bathroom light (except in the middle of the night). We got our's from Amazon:
took a couple minutes and a screwdriver to swap it out

We have the 172 and wish it had more light to the front. A window in the door would help alot too. Just wish I knew someone who could do it for us.

i tried before and after pictures you can see the one before picture looking up from the inside. When I replaced it the sun was beating on the camper and the light flooded the picture. Really does lighten up the camper.

No I did not get this for free I think it cost me about $30.00 to do but well worth it. Fantastic Fan gave me a name of place to call in Florida and they shipped it pretty quick. I will try to find the company information and post it.

Did you take pictures of how dark it was on the inside before you replaced it? Thanks for sharing.
