On our first night out in our 179, the slideout failed to retract. Removed panel beneath refrigerator and found that the wires providing power to the motor had become disconnected. I did not have a square screw driving bit and had to improvise with a pair of needle nose plyers to remove the screws.

Thanks - I thought I as going to find the water pump under the queen bed - so my experience with the dealer when I pick it up on Friday ought to be an interesting experience!

Our 17 1/2 179 does the same thing. I don't think it's an issue.

On our 2016-178 the controller is mounted on the outside wall beneath the kitchen cabinet slideout. It and the water pump are both accessible by removing 2 access panels down at floor level.

My 180 does the exact same thing. Has done it since new two years ago. My heart always skips a beat when it happens, but what a sigh of relief when it works on the second try.

Does anyone know where the Schwintec slide drive controller is in a 178? I'm picking up my new 178 Friday, and I want to make sure I know where it is when I talk with the dealer's prep tech.

I probably copied these from a previous post but I don't remember who posted them so I apologize for not giving credit to the original poster.

I wondered also what would happen if the slide-out motors failed to move the unit. I looked at some YouTube videos which showed how to disengage the motors and manually retract the slide and then brace it so that it would not slide back out when the trailer was moving. You would not be stranded if there were a failure.
That being said, I would get it to the dealer for a check since it is under warranty. Your dealer's service department would be the best ones to diagnose why this happened, especially if it happens again. |
