Need to know best screw thread and size for use in attaching items to the interior walls given the fact that
they are only 1/8 inch thick. Any one?

If whatever you are screwing to the wall is very light you can use a #6 or #8 wood or sheet metal screw. It doesn’t take much force to pull a screw out of an 1/8” wall so for heavy items you need Hollow Wall Anchor for wall thickness 1/8” – 1/4'’ .

I have used #8 screws and had no problems.  I've hung spice racks and other moderately heavy objects with them.  If you want more holding power, use them in conjunction with double sided tape or use hollow wall anchors as JandL suggested

And remember - don't push very hard on the drill -one wouldn't want to poke a hole thru to the outside.

I used a couple of small wall anchors for hanging a full length mirror on the outside of the bathroom door (it is hollow).

I would use several wood screws and epoxy (if it's to be permanent) to mount a piece of hardwood to an outside wall, then attach what you need to it.
