Hi, we just got home (Montana) from picking up a used 2011 R-Pod 176 in Minnesota. It looks like I got a good deal, it's in great shape! My uncle picked it up at the dealer for me and I don't think the dealer was very familiar with R-Pods. To make a long story short, I don't know much about how to work a lot of the stuff in the trailer, ie. furnace and air conditioning, refrigerator, water heater, etc... I'll probably be asking some rookie questions.
We are towing it with our 2007 GMC Canyon crew cab (4x4, Z-71, 3.7 liter). The truck tows it just fine, suspension and brakes seem adequate. Maybe a little lacking on power but we were able to cruise at 65-70 mph most of the way, 55 over Bozeman Pass, which is pretty slow in Montana where the speed limit is 80 on the interstate. We tow in '3' and not 'D' (over-drive). Never over heated but it started to run a little hot in windy eastern Montana, turned off the air conditioning and slowed down. Our fuel mileage went from 20 on the way out to 10 on the way home. Luckily gas was cheap!
We are two adults and two kids and looking to have a lot of fun in this! We are interested in any storage tricks/mods we can easily do.
