I pulled out the anode rod - I've attached a picture - now I need opinions on should I replace it...  If so which one do I get?  Are they all the same?
Also...  does anyone have opinions on the tool: "Water heater tank rinser"?
It is an 2013 R-Pod 171.
Thanks

Since the top of the rod is pretty much gone, I would recommend replacing it.  You could probably get a bit more use out of it, but they're too cheap to not replace since you already have it out.

I've never heard of a water heater tank rinser and don't see why you would really need one unless your tank was quite old.

My thoughts were the same - it's out so just replace it...

Now the question is magnesium or aluminum - the owners manual says either - is there a better choice?

The water tank rinser is "Camco 11691 Water Heater Tank Rinser" - just a hose attachment that has a reducer wand on the end that can be inserted into the hot water tank - not sure if it is really needed.
Thanks

I've not heard of a preference for the material that the anode is made out of, so whatever you can get easily and cheaply would work for me.

Since I've never even heard of anyone rinsing out their water heater tank, I would not worry about it.  Camco sells a number of RV accessories that are very much unnecessary.

My two cents.  The hose rinse attachment is use to flush out your water heater with the debris from the sacrificial anode.  Cheap enough to buy and not a problem to flush out each time you replace the anode.  Safe Travels.
