So my wife and I had a wonderful trip to Glendo Reservoir, Devils Tower and Chadron, Nebraska this last week, however we had a little incident with a gust of wind on the highway between Douglas and Gillette, Wyoming. It seems the wind caught an area of delamination of the fiberglass skin just in front of the door on our 2010 172. Didn't notice it happened until we turned into a gas station to fill up. uploads/4397/IMG_20160616_133347467_2.jpg

I didn't know that the R-Pod could delaminate like that. I noticed plywood. Are the new R-Pods constructed differently? I thought they were laminated directly to the aluminum frame and foam insulation on the two sides.
I imagine whoever was behind you got quite a shock also at a sheet of fiberglass flying off in front of him/her. Hopefully, it blew off to the side of the road. |

All are made this way. I've seen plenty of delamination over the years but never a piece of it ripped off like this. Wow.

Could this be an insurance claim?

I took the Pod in to a local RV repair shop and we are working with my insurance company. A very rough estimate is 2K which seems reasonable.
