I discovered after I got back from the POD in the Pines that the hinge to my freezer compartment was cracked and so the door was not sealing like it should. The hinge on the left side had almost broken completely. The hinges are made out of ABS plastic and the torsion spring had stressed them enough to cause the plastic to crack. I ordered a replacement from Dyers RV Parts “Dometic RM8501 Freezer Compartment Hinge Assembly, Part No. 2412125011 (Item #: 88212) $16.89, Shipping and Handling was another $9.49. (This is for one hinge). I glued the broken hinge but it snapped in half, there is not enough material to do a good glue bond. The other hinge had a small stress crack starting in the same place. I cut out some aluminum pieces and bonded them to the hinges with J-B Weld so the stress of the torsion spring won’t cause this to happen again.
