Sad to report that black fly season has started here in Vermont. I was hoping Fred has a solution for this with his famous peas!!

Have an old recipe from the UP of Michigan that works for black flies.  Buy a stick of camphor from your pharmacy/drugstore, put in a jar with olive oil and let it sit for 5 - 7 for the camphor to dissolve in the olive oil.  Rub in on your skin, you will be amazed.  I don't care for the smell of olive oil, but it sure beats getting eatin' alive by the black flies.

When is black fly season over up yonder in the U.P.?

I'd kind of like to get back up there sometime this year.

Thanks!

Ron, that is a really great area! I would bring deet and a bat...........some of them are pretty big Approve
some of the nights have been pretty chilly still..............low 40's to low 30's. Had snow on my van the other morning.

Hey Leo!

Sorry, I've been taking a break from peas. A pea break.

So...I decided to build a rust remover Flux Capacitor thing using my 20 year old Ship 'n Shore battery charger. Cleaning up my rusty tools. I'm sure it would remove the rust from any large military grade black fly weaponry. I'm thinking I will use the bathroom tub to clean up my WDH...when the wife is away.
