We had our 179 (2016) out for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We had a few glitches here and there, most I have been able to work through. But the one that I was not able to figure out is the Furnace, it runs fine on propane but not on electric?? It is suppose to isn't it?? If so any tricks?? Out furnace is under our bed not easy to get to, I took the front cover off and didn't see any resets or anything?? So when you turn the stat on it will kick in, but no hot air and it will shut down and won't restart. Oh yea we LOVED our first trip can't wait to get back out with it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The furnace runs on propane, but uses 12V electric to power the fan. If there is no propane, the furnace can't start up. Make sure that your propane tank has gas and that the lines are purged before trying to start up either the furnace or refrigerator. Even then, it may take a couple of tries for the gas to reach either one of them.
To purge the air, light your stove. When you can light it and it burns steadily, you have purged most of the air. The branch lines for the furnace and stove will still have some air. That is why it still may take a couple of tries for them to light.

If you still have problems, you may need to visit your dealer and have them check it out.

The furnace must have propane and 12V to operate. It will not heat without propane and will not run at all without 12V. If it came on for a short time, tried to light, and went off it sounds like you had no propane. Check the tank, valves, and hoses.

Thanks for the quick responses. So the heat will not run on just 120 volts?? I was under the impression that it would heat with just electric, thinking there was a electric element or something like that??

No electric element in the furnace. It uses propane to generate the heat. Some air conditioners came with heat strips, but they're noisy and not common.

Some people use a small ceramic block electric heater instead of the furnace. That is about the only way to have electric only heat.

OK that explains it then, either I have to use the propane or get a small electric heater. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

Welcome to the forum!

Even the smallest of electric heaters will keep you toasty and they are much more quiet than the furnace.

Yes, a small ceramic 1500w heater will keep the POD toaster with ease. We only use the POD heater if we need heat when off of shore power.
