Thanks for the ideas. We're going to make some calls and see exactly what's open in February.

We passed Fall Creek Falls on our way east yesterday. We have been there but not as campers. As throttle 96 said it is beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

Not in Georgia or Kentucky, but halfway in between. Fall Creek Falls in Tennesee. It is BEAUTIFULL. "Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is the highest waterfall in the eastern United States". Just a thought.

I spent 1 night in this GA State Park. It's a real nice park that I would hit again if it was along my route. It's close to Sandersville, GA.
Hamburg State Park: http://www.gastateparks.org (478) 552-2393 or (800) 864-7275 They have plenty of pull through sites and all sites have a view of the lake. RV camping is $23.00 per night and $18.40 per night for seniors. All RV sites have water and electric, 30amp and 50amp. They use a dump station. There is a restored water powered grist mill in the campground with free tours. Park Office hours are: 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The sites are large and clean with plenty of shade. Terry |

You might want to call the park and find out if the fort is in operation during the winter.

The Kentucky Horse Park is just off I 75 and they have a very nice campground. It is just north of Lexington. I am not sure if it is open in the winter but I suppose it is since Fort Boonesboro is open. The Horse Park is interesting. They have a museum dedicated to everything "horsey" :)
They have famous horses that have been retired. During the summer (not sure now) they have what they call "The Parade of the Horses" and different breeds are brought out to show.
If you are staying more than a day there are other places around Lexington of interest.

Visit fort. Check. Thanks. That's what we're lookin' for - interesting stuff to see besides Bronner's of Frankenmuth billboards. I swear they have those things all the way down to Miami.
The route from MI down to FL is pretty much I-75. We're flexible on the return route, and willing to stray off the interstate a bit to get to a good park.

Make sure and visit the Fort at Boonesborough. The re-enactors are really talented. We especially liked the blacksmith and gun shop.
You have to drive 1/2 mile to the fort from the campground.

It might help to show the routes that you would be taking.

SWMBO made the reservations about a month ago. We'll be there midweek so that may make a difference as far as availability.
