Also regarding percentage of SOC, what is typically used as a measuring device?

Thanks

"We will be camping at least up to 1 - week - 10 days at a time. Much of the camping will be in Michigan for about 8 or 9 months of the year. In early spring and late fall we will need the furnace and will probably always need the water pump."

I may have missed it and hate to assume anything, but is this "boondocking" That is, camping off the grid?

If so, I wouldn't have any problem investing in a true deep cycle set up. One like furpod has.
You're gong to need it.

We often camp where no electricity is available, that is why we ordered our 177 WITHOUT A/C, entertainment center, and mico/convection oven.  We normally stay at national parks for at least a week at a time, so we are grateful to have 2 batteries.  At Glacier (nightime temps 37 - 45 ) our 12 v battery was good for 4 days and the furnace ran a lot during the night.  On day 5 we would then swap batteries.  During the day, very little as we would be gone hiking and furnace was set as low as possible.

Yes, boondocking is "off the grid"  or camping anywhere you don't have electricity to plug into.

Thanks furpod

So if I mount a switch at the batteries (I was going to do anyway) that shuts off all power going to the trailer and take a resting reading with my VOM and I am below 12 volts I am at 50 %.
Full charge would be ???? 12.8 volts or so.

Good to know.

I have kicked around not having the AC, micro wave and oven. 40 plus years in tents and we managed just fine.

That said, my wife is liking the idea of having them if we happen to be somewhere we can plug in.

I am afraid what that may start.............if you know what I mean. LOL

She is still reminding me of all of those trips without a toilet. LOL

Dave,

Your wife sounds a lot like mine.  Since we purchased our 177 in 2011 the toilet has been a Really Really NICE addition.  We don't miss those other 'conveniences' I listed above, hey we are camping and enjoy the simpler life that goes with it.  It is so nice in those shoulder months when we normally camp (April-May) and (September -October) in the North to not have wet canvas slapping us in the face when we put up or break down camp.  We enjoy the coziness of a solid unit - no canvas.

That is one of those things I will not miss........after getting home with a wet tent and damp gear, its another week before all is dried out and put away. Nope not gonna miss that; For Sure and For Certain
