Count me in the E2 crowd. I did a short "review" of it a while back. I've been happy with mine. As mentioned, the hitch/ball assembly is rather heavy. My remedy for the grease issue is - I tear off a small amount of aluminum foil (3 pcs.) and cover the hitch ball and the tension rod ends, when not hitched. The foil does not blow off the ball when driving and once the rod ends are covered, I place them in the back of the truck.

Fastway E2

It works and is one of the lesser expensive options. Good luck!

So I was looking at the E2 hitches and looks like the 600 is one I would like to go for and is about 300$ and then there is a smaller one that is even more. Doesn't really make since to me that a heavier duty build is less than the lighter duty.

I looked up the Anderson and that is a crazy price for a few chains and brackets. Unless that ball and mount are made of some bada## metal I cant get myself to spend that kind of money on it.

Maybe I'm being cheap but the majority of these set ups from name brand and private brand seems to be a little over priced from looking at some of the material they are built out of.

After I get this thing hooked up Ill go from there and decide if I need the dual set up or just the anti sway equipment. Ill post some pics of my findings once I get it back on the road here in a few weeks. I'm taking a small trip for the weekend to a local site and will see how it rides up and down some heels, sometimes we get pretty good winds so hopefully I can test how it feels on a standard hitch.

Also what is the deal when backing up and turning with these WDH/anti Sway set up installed. Some of them Iv read that you need to detach to back up and all this craziness. I guess my question is more so, with any WDH/anti Sway set up, how much of an angle can you actually turn these things when backing up? Iv pulled trailers for a while and have not jackknifed one yet but have made some pretty close calls when backing up. Do I want to avoid angles as much as possible when backing up with these installed or do I just operate as normal?

Thanks for all the help and replies, they are greatly appreciated.

The issue is the angle and what happens to the WDH rods at extreme angles. If the WDH is properly installed there should be no problem. For Equalizer and E2 hitches this means assuring there is adequate travel room for the bars to fully extend and retract during backup turns. For chain WDHs this means assuring the chains are long enough to accommodate the angles encountered. Also check for TV to TT interference during tight turns, particularly with gas bottles and the tongue jack. Except for some noise there is no need to disconnect properly installed WDHs. However, there are damage reports with friction type sway control devices. These may have to be disconnected. Again it's best to try it out slowly in a big parking lot and observe the interactions.

For a lightweight camper the E2 is fine.  If you go up to a 7, 8, 9000 pound camper then you will want one of the expensive WDHs.  Get the 6000/600 E2 so you'll be covered if you move up to a larger camper in the future.  That was the model I used.

Im polly going to hook it up this weekend as long as things go as planned at work. Ill be doing a dewinterization this weekend as well, but kind of scared to since we are not completely out of the winter season yet. About a month and half left. It hasnt really gotten to frozen temps yet but we have had some close calls.
I did do some shopping around town and found nothing, not one WDH or anything related to it. Enough ball and mounts and few other things for hitches but nothing like what we have been talking about. Shipping is going to kill me. Hopefully I can keep this whole ordeal under 400$.

Thanks for all the help and will take everything in and hopefully not be forced to make a decision sooner than later. Wish me luck.

If you are on Amazon Prime, standard shipping to Alaska on Prime items is free. If you can't find something local, that might be a viable option.

I ordered my Anderson WDH from Amazon and it shipped free to Anchorage with Prime.  That had to cost Amazon a pretty penny.  Big smile

I would be going after that Anderson hitch already if it was not 500 bones. But yes I love taking advantage of things like that, especially when it saves 100s.

I could have saved over $200 had I purchased the Andersen hitch and installed it myself instead of paying over $700 for the Equalizer and installation by the dealer. However, since I did not have the trailer to do a self-install, I went with having the dealer install and set it up.
