Topic: Seeking Radio/Cd player info Posted: 27 Sep 2015 at 6:30pm |
We have an older model 173 with the fold down small tv/am/fm/cd entertainment system. It is terrible. It is mounted under the overhead cabinet and above the sink. That probably is still the best location. We would like to get a new system that has only the radio and cd player with an MP3/aux input. We do not need a tv.
does anyone have experience or suggestions? should it be 110v or 12v? both power sources are available in the area where it will be mounted.
we have googled "rv entertainment systems", "12v radio", "car stereo" etc and are totally confused with what we see.
Thanks for any suggestions. Vann

ICFCDK50 Sony. I have had one of these in my kitchen for years. Available from Amazon, although a bit pricey. 120v only. Good luck with your search.

I would suggest finding a good car stereo dealer or a Best Buy if you have one near you. Safe Travels.

My plan is to go with a car system, that way I can go 12v. We are waiting for the audiovox flip down to die first. We very rarely use the DVD, and have plugged into cable twice in 5 years, both times just to make sure it still works..

Crutchfield.com has a wide variety of stereo systems for cars, and maybe RV's, never checked. I was going to replace the stereo and speakers in my 179, but have decided on a much easier and cheaper solution. I bought a portable Bluetooth speaker, pair it to my Iphone, and just sit it either on the picnic table outside or bring it into the trailer. It is only about 10-11 inches long. There are quite a few to choose from on Amazon, and I only paid $45

Yeah.. that is what has held up the 12v entertainment system mod.. We have a very nice JBL Bluetooth speaker, and stream from our phones.. For the first 3 years we just had wired/powered speakers we used the same way.
