I bought a pair of stabilizer jacks off Amazon to replace a bent one on my 2014 178 but it is heavier and the tabs are larger. Has anyone purchased a jack from Forest River or anywhere else that is compatible? Thanks!

I have also had the displeasure of knocking off two stabilizer jacks.  I replaced one mistakenly with a 6,500 lb. capacity and the second one with a 5,000 lb capacity.  My welding person had no problem welding both on and they work fine.  Hope that helps.  Safe Travels.

I can't see what you're actually dealing with, but I agree with Camper Bob.  As long as you can get them attached, it shouldn't matter if they are exact replacements. Remember to use them only as stabilizers and not to try to lift the pod with them, even if they are heavier duty.

I replaced one and it is different slightly from the stock one.  I don't know why you would mess with welding the replacement back on since the bolts are really the strength in the connection.  Mine had two tiny tacks that I cut through with a dremmel, and four bolts.  It is up to you but the bolts stay good and tight and are much stronger that the welds that seemed to be an assembly aid and not structural.

This should bolt right up. Just remove the two bolts that attach the jack to the plate that is mounted on the POD. Set of 2 5000 lb 24" RV Trailer Stabilizer Leveling Scissor Jacks w/handle

All well and good.  However, If you have done a truly professional job of thrashing your stabilizers, the bolts are no longer straight.  Hence the need to have them welded.  Any amateur can damage their stabilizers without damaging the bolts.  Safe Travels.

To offer a slightly different option: my 2009 r-pod didn't come with scissor jacks, instead it came from the factory with telescoping jacks (and only on the rear).  In practice, the pod was a bit wiggly with only the rear jacks, so I went down to my local RV store and bought a second pair of jacks and installed them on the front.  The telescoping jacks have a much lower profile when up, giving a little more wiggle room in tight situations.

It was a simple self-tapping screw installation.  And, after six years of r-pod ownership, I'm confident in saying that 4 jacks rated at 4000lbs each are more than adequate to stabilize my 171 (even with 8 people and 3 dogs inside for dinner and cards on one particularly miserable weekend when it was way too windy for the dome).  Maintenance is restricted to squirting some grease on the threads each spring.

I also have this type on my unit and am very pleased with them.
In addition, it seems to me that they go up/down faster/easier.

I also have the old style of jacks and I like them however, I like them even more after I turned them about 30 degrees.

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

I added Save-A-Jack to the 2 rear jack(s). It took 20 minutes to remove the 2 jacks and screw the plates in with self tapping screws. The jack slips into the plate and is held on with clips. Takes seconds to remove the jacks and store them. Much better ground clearance, and no more ripping the jacks off. Order directly from Save-A-Jack, cheaper than Camping World.
