Calendar Event: rpod cover for winter Posted: 08 Sep 2015 at 8:50pm |
Does anyone cover there pod in the winter. I have heard that they need to breath and covering them was bad.

That is what I was told during our winterizing class that the dealership put on. So I will brush the snow off but we leave the vent open and the pod uncovered.

The advice about not covering is true only when you're talking about old fashioned, non-breathable material (e.g. blue tarps). The covers made for the R-pods are made of breathable material. The covers will protect your camper from UVs. I cover ours, just as I did with our previous popup.

That's exactly right.
Here's the cover we've been using with our Pod. It has mesh flaps at the top to allow moisture to escape, but they are designed to not allow rain back in.

I've seen the harmful effects of long-term UV radiation from the sun on campers, and it isn't good. It looks to me to be a very good investment.

Here in northern Vermont we have 10 months of winter and two months of bad skiing, so we haven't had that problem.

We are new owners and have purchased our cover directly from Classic Accessories. After being on for only 3 months, holes developed around the ends of the gutter over the slide-out and at the ends of the R-dome track. Classic Accessories replaced the cover w/in 3 days of my filing a warranty claim. They even found a copy of the invoice they initially emailed me so that I had all the documentation necessary. They were great to deal w/.
Before I use the new cover, I am working on ways to soften these sharp edges. Any suggestions?

Cut up a small foam pool noodle to size and place on sharp corners.

I use tennis balls with a hole big enough for the down spouts, works great.

I just bought a cover (and wheel covers too) so I can keep the sun and the snow off it this winter. I plan on camping until late Oct and then I'll winterize and cover it. We may tow it too Florida this winter for a few weeks but aside from that it will be covered up...hibernating!
