Topic: Forest River Recall Posted: 03 Jul 2015 at 10:10pm |
Did anyone happen to see the recall that Forest River will be starting soon. It was reported in the NYT this morning. Doug, the Surveyor was one of the units to be recalled. Might want to search for the article.
2016 FOREST RIVER SURVEYOR RECALL - #15V359000RECALL FOR SUSPENSION : REAR : AXLE : NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLYForest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Evo, Salem, Sandstorm, Shockwave, Stealth, Wildwood, Cherokee Grey Wolf, Wildcat Maxx, Vibe, R-Pod, and Surveyor trailers. In the affected trailers, the studs that are used to attach the wheels to the axle hubs may break.

I talked to the Surveyor plant in Indiana yesterday and they said it only affected Surveyors built at their Oregon plant. When I called Forest River the fellow I spoke with had no clue about a recall.

Here is the recall letter with the affected Vin Numbers and production manufacture dates.
You can see by the serial numbers that all the affected Pods are from the Dallas Oregon plant so they would all be HREs. Goshen Pods are not affected by this

Well, looks like that includes me; guess I'll be getting a letter from FR here pretty soon.....geez. What I'm wondering is, will I be required to have the work done at the RV Dealership I bought it from, or will I be able to use any RV service place that does warranty work for FR? Anyone on here been thru anything like this before?

Those of us who went through the light bar recall a few years ago had differing experiences. In most cases, any FR dealer was able to do the repair.

Same deal as HuronSailor, I was also able to go to any authorized Forest River dealer for my recall work. I chose one that was close to my work just out of convenience.
Recall work is usually easier than warranty work to get done at other places than your selling dealer.

Are you one of the affected Vin Numbers? I don't think many of the units in it actually made it out into the retail world.
