does anyone have an issue with the rigid swivel arm that holds the tv? i wish that the tv could point down a little. if you are in bed the tv is at an angle that makes for a poor view. the rigid arm is ok if viewing from the dining area ( i have the 179). can the arm be bent to resolve this issue kr is there another arm available?

We have the same problem with our 179 . One the other podder advised that this arm will take care of the problem      http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/flat-panel-lcd-tv-wall-mount-bracket-with-double-swing-arm-extension-147.html

The TV mount that comes with the 179 is a waste...almost as useless as the 24" RV sewer hose holder.  This will be my first project:

CFWarren,

How did the TV mount work out for you? What mods did  you have to make?
Thank you.

The swivel arm works well. I took tv off its mount attach the new arm and reattached the tv. The tv sticks out a little more from the side wall but not a big deal. One person can do the job but better with two. attached the new arm to the tv and then had a friend hold the tv and swivel next to the swing arm , aligned it and screwed. The new tv angle is much better.

I didn't change the whole swivel. I bought the part listed below and bolted it to the current swivel, then to the TV. I guess the mod is pretty much the same either way. Mainly for tilting down so you can sit or watch tv in bed.

I have a 179 also and had the same problem.
I took the arm off and put it in a bench vise and slowly bent it about 20 degrees.
Works fine in bed and dining area

hogone finally has the answer for the tv when laying in bed.  bend it down until it breaks!!  yup, that's what happened last weekend.  is now hanging there by the wire.  been wanting to do this mod since purchase, well now ill get to do it.  will only replace the tv/dvd, not the radio.  so will be looking at mounting brackets and new tv.  any good suggestions on tv/dvd combo is appreciated.  hogone

hello all; as i mentioned above, i broke my tv the other night trying to bend it down to view from bed.  thats ok, as i have wanted to replace it anyway.  i want to leave the cabinet up, and just want to replace the tv with a tv/dvd combo (not the radio)under the cabinet.  and thoughts/suggestions on what size tv and a mounting bracket that would tilt down more and work for good viewing?  thanks for any suggestions.  hogone

and to clarify on what i mentioned above, i guess i want to do the under cabinet mount.  the tv in the 179 is not mounted under the cabinet above the bed correct?  I looked at above suggestions, but it doesnt look like the mount im looking for, but then hogone is easily confused!!  hogone
