Calendar Event: R Dome pulls out of slot Posted: 10 May 2015 at 4:15pm |
Hi Folks,
We just set up our R Dome on our 179 for the first time at home to test it out. I had read in a few places to silicone the track to make it easier, which I did. Maybe as a result of that, the the dome pulled out of the track in a moderate breeze. Did anyone have the same experience, and did anyone find a solution?
Thanks, Geoff in CT

Solution is to narrow the C-channel that the keder goes into with pliers usually.

There are two size keders... the smaller (older) keder will slip out of the larger (newer) track. You have the wrong r-dome for your model year of r-pod.

A new 179 and a new dome.. VERY doubtful that you have a small keder dome, they have been out of production for several years now.
My bet is a bit of a wide channel in the keder rail also, put some duck tape on a pair of vice grip jaws, and close it up a smidgeon at the spots that pulled out.

Thanks. That sounds a lot more likely as well to me. I went out and took a closer look, I can see a couple of spots.
Kind regards and good camping, Geoff
