We had the same problem. I use a bungie that goes down to a tent spike I bought after market. In fact I do a lot of extra rigging on the entire dome, Once its up I don't want to have to take it down till its time to go. So when the wind kicks up in the middle of the night, I don't want to have to take it down at 2am.

We just bought a 2011 172. It comes with a dome, but not a way to anchor the side flaps to the trailer. Seems like from following the threads here that suction cups are the factory solution and that over the counter suction cups work.

But I don't know exactly how the dome connect to the suction cups. Hooks or will the grommet on the dome slide over the head of a special suction cup.

Any advice or picture would be a great help.
