has anyone installed a larger TV in the 179? The 19 is just to small. I can mount a 25 inch to the same mount that came with the 179, but you then can't put the TV back in the travel position and use the hold strap. The larger TV hits on the wall because of the extra width. Would it be ok to go down the road with the TV not in the travel position being held with the strap? Any ideas

One of my mods was to purchase a 32" Smart TV for the outside kitchen on my 182G as I wanted a bigger screen than what the 19" offered. I ordered a mount kit for it and it came with two extra wall mounts that I initially didn't need. However, I soon put one to use under my pergola on my deck to put the TV to use when we are not traveling. I put the second one apr. 9" to the right of the factory mount so now I can put the 32" inside the Rpod and the security strap still works! best of all, with the new mount, we can swing the TV all the way around so we can watch while lying in the bunks!

That sounds good. Where the factory mount is on the 179 right on the edge of the wardrobe, even if I change the mount to a different mount that will except say a 23" TV the TV will hit on the wall in the travel position. There would have to be some way to push the TV back as far as possible and lock the arm so the tv don't move driving down the road. Maybe a mount that would allow me to remove the tv from the swing arm, so I could lay the TV on the bed while moving. I was hoping someone with a 179 would read this and maybe they have done a mod for a larger tv . I also need to come up with a way to secure the coach door in the open position, so it doesn't hit on the fender. You would thought the FR engineers would have gave some thought to this

I guess since you brought it up my major complaint with the TV is that it is useless lying in bed.  How does one tilt it down for direct viewing?
As for the coach door I understand that 2015  began the newly designed door that stays open in any position.

You have hit on the exact two issues holding me back as I decide between the 179 and garage models. I love everything about the 179 but the tv setup just seems like an afterthought. I keep trying to think about how I might mod it to not only allow a larger tv but also allow me to place devices close to it. I often attach a laptop or other device so I need some sort of ledge.

Love the garage models but the interiors come with even more trade offs than the 179.

i added some washers to the top edge of the bracket to tilt tv forward so we could see the picture from the bed. I dont like the whole system. i would like to change it all out, including the radio/dvd to a sirius unit  and a 12v tv. The 179 mount does prevent a larger tv. i'm stumped as well for now.

I am thinking over moving the 179 TV location to slide out wall to the right of the microwave. Two reasons: I could fit a 27" TV there, and then it would be viewable from both the bed and the couch. Just trying to figure out how to run the wires from the Jensen over there in a nice way. Anyone know how to get wires from one side of the trailer over to the other?

I would think mounting it on the slideout wall would put it right on top of you when sitting at the table. It would be great when watching from the bed. I am looking for a tilt mount that can hold a 22 or 25 inch flat screen,a mount that has a quick removable arm from the wall mounted base.when I travel just remove the tv from the base and store it on the bed. When it's mounted and it's in your way you can just swing the tv back toward the wall enough to get it out of the way. My thought anyway.

That is a great thought if it proves in the way at the table.  But I don't plan to watch it while we eat and so as I've been looking at the thickness of those corner cushions I was thinking it would not be in the way as long as I can fold it in flush to the wall while we sit down to eat. With your idea I have a fall back plan if it gets in the way. I found today I can run the wires under the floor to keep it all looking nice. I will post some pics here after I get it done and let you know what we think of the space after the change.
