Topic: Friction Sway Control Installation Posted: 09 Nov 2014 at 10:39am |
Hey all you Pod experts!
We towed Podimus home yesterday! We are officially PodPeople :) Hubs wants to install the friction sway controller that we had on our previous trailer on to the Pod. Since the area where he needs to drill the hole for the small ball hitch thingy (yes, that's a real word in my vocab) has four sides - like it is solid - the screw end won't go all the way thru. I will post pic as soon as I can resize them. Any suggestions? If you have one, would you share how you installed it? Please :) |

Hey, glad y'all got the deal done. A Latin pod .. Cool! Ours hasn't yet suggested a preferred name. Time will tell.
Can't help you with the hitch question. Ours is the E2 WDH. Again, congrats on getting Little Pod home.

You seem to be missing a couple parts. Here's what you should find in the box:
The short flange with the single hole must be welded to the side of your receiver's ball mount. The small ball is then bolted into that flange: The plate with the ball attached mounts to the side of your trailer tongue. Drill six holes (I suggest a titanium drill bit, which makes drilling much easier) in the side of the tongue and use the provided self-tapping screws to attach: (Sorry - this is the best random picture on the internet I could find. Please use all six bolts provided.)

Ours didn't come with the ball on the plate. Only with what is shown. I guess we may need to buy one. |

If you don't want to deal with welding, etrailer sells a bolt on plate for the small equalizer ball: just remove the 2" hitch ball, drop the plate on, and rebolt the hitch ball on.
