We are pleased to have picked up a new 178 yesterday.  Folks at the dealership are recommending putting a coating on the trailer which they say has all kinds of benefits.  cost is about 900 dollars....

Anyone done this?

Whatcha think?

thanks a lot

Special coatings are hokum.. Just use an RV wax yourself and save $875. You will have to do it again occasionally, but it takes a very short time to hand wax a pod, they are neither large, or tall..

It doesn't sound right I am sure others will have something to say about it. I have never known anyone to have any kind of protective coat added to the r-pod. I think the fiberglass on the r-pods is coated with Luminex or something like that which is very durable. We had our r-pod for five years and never had a problem with the finish on the fiberglass.

Never had an issue with mine, over 5 years now.  Sounds like all those "undercoating" scams from car dealers.

OK!  wow!  this forum saved some bucks!!!    I kind of wondered about the whole thing anyway.
It's new and shiny now and we'll just use some elbow grease in a while!  Thanks to all of you, we truly are saving about 900$ due to the good people on this forum.
A big thank you from Loren and Sally and Bear

I vote with furpod but I'd say spend a little for a cover. It will save you a lot over time.

Some of us are able to remember what P.T. Barnum said.  "There's a sucker born every minute."  Some of these dealers must think we are all just off the hay wagon.  Where do they get these ideas?  You "don't need no stinkin' protective coating.  To partially quote a saying from "The Treasure of Sierra Madre."  Great movie.  Anyway, you got friends here who will steer you correctly.  Any questions, check here before writing a check.  Safe Travels.
