Yep, still waiting for the delayed delivery of my new 178 but in preparation for a rapidly approaching first r-pod outing, I am wondering what anyone out there has done (that didn't cost 900.00) regarding a mattress.  The pod mattress tried hard, but I have aged out of not needing to sleep well, so am looking for something a wee bit more comfortable.  In other campers I have used an air mattress with foam topper, but problem here is size.  60 x 74 not readily available.  Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you tried the matress?  Not everyone hates theirs.

I'm actually ok with the mattress in my 179, can't say the same for other RV's I've had though.

I actually was able to lay down on this mattress when I first went to look at the camper and when I went last week to take delivery.  I was unable to take delivery due to a problem with the refrigerator memory board.  So, it seemed pretty uncomfortable but that is without sleeping on it, only doing the "lay down test."

Our 178 came with a Williamsburg mattress which we think is comfortable enough.  We did add a foam topper which seems to improve it even more.

We also added a memory foam piece over the mattress and find it very comfortable.

How would I know if mine is a Williamsburg mattress?  Will it indicate that on the mattress itself?

Thanks!

In my opinion our 171 was delivered with a mattress that was so thin that we gave it away before we ever used it.  Much of the wisdom regarding the mattress is such that we opted for a mattress from Camping World.  Never looked back even though the minority on this board still like theirs.  Glad their happy, but didn't do it for us.  It is a pillow top and runs about $350 and comes rolled up.  Take it into your Pod and open it in place.  Otherwise you will have a wrestling match on your hands.  Prior to our purchasing our 171 we read many of the suggestions, and many were very negative about the mattress.  If you are comfortable on it, so be it.  If not read what many many others have suggested and replace it immediately.  Safe Travels.

There should be a detailed label on the mattress itself.  It should also be listed on the FR Appliance/Information Sheet that came with your pod.

The older r-pods came with a very uncomfortable mattress, those were the r-pods with the negative comments about the mattress. The newer r-pods have a different mattress and I don't remember reading complaints with it.
