Well-  I need to revise my above statement.  At the time we had slept on the mattress maybe 10-12 nights.
After a 30 day road trip the mattress is shot especially on my side.
Off to shop for something else.....

More info-   we bought a 5" high density foam "mattress" from here-

http://carolinacustomfoam.com/high-density/

We are very pleased with it!    We actually made the 3 hour drive to the business in Black Mountain NC  to check out the mattress as I didn't want to order something and then not like it.
The owner was great to work with and talk with during our visit.  He cut it to our spec while we were there.

Having spent 3 nights on it I'm happy.  It should hold up much better than the OEM mattress, which when we removed it from its cover, we saw how poorly it was made- not really foam, as the label implied,  but 3 sheets of some semi fluffy junk like batting.
He sells by the square foot so a short queen runs around $260-270 depending on if you want 74 or 75 inch length.

Here's the mattress SchipperPod told me she used to replace the mattress in her new 178:

I ended up getting a 2 inch foam topper with another inch of down on top of that.  Got it at Camping World.  So far, so good.  Met a podder over the weekend who put an innerspring, full size mattress in his pod and it fit well.  Not quite as wide as the short queen that was in there originally, but the length was perfect.  He and his wife love it.

We use a 2" foam topper on top of our mattress. Nothing special, but it works.

The mattress in our 2010 171 was a lot thinner and much more uncomfortable, The new 179's is a huge improvement!!

The older r-pods came with a very uncomfortable mattress, those were the r-pods with the negative comments about the mattress. The newer r-pods have a different mattress and I don't remember reading complaints with it.

There should be a detailed label on the mattress itself.  It should also be listed on the FR Appliance/Information Sheet that came with your pod.

In my opinion our 171 was delivered with a mattress that was so thin that we gave it away before we ever used it.  Much of the wisdom regarding the mattress is such that we opted for a mattress from Camping World.  Never looked back even though the minority on this board still like theirs.  Glad their happy, but didn't do it for us.  It is a pillow top and runs about $350 and comes rolled up.  Take it into your Pod and open it in place.  Otherwise you will have a wrestling match on your hands.  Prior to our purchasing our 171 we read many of the suggestions, and many were very negative about the mattress.  If you are comfortable on it, so be it.  If not read what many many others have suggested and replace it immediately.  Safe Travels.
