I would like to add a towel bar to the wall of our shower. What fasteners would you recommend for attaching to a wall with no inner support? I really hate fastening to such flimsy walls.

I tried a search but didn't find an answer.

Thanks!

If you are going to use screws to install it, then you will need to use molly bolts so that it will stay up.  Another option would be to use some of the stronger double-sided tape (i.e. 3M) for putting it up ... a couple small pieces on either side of the 20 lb holding strength should do the trick.  One other option would be to look at the suction cup types of towel bars that I have seen at some of the larger home improvement stores.  In the end, I think a lot depends on the size of the bar and how heavy your towels are.

Frankly, I'd advise against putting holes in the shower walls.

As an alternative, you can use 3M Command Hooks (like these), which is what I did - and they've been keeping the towels off the floor of my r-pod for five years now.  Or, assuming the mounting surface of your towel bar is large enough, try some Scotch Indoor-Outdoor Mounting Tape (link) which is quite strong and can be (carefully) removed from the r-pod's walls without damage - again, I've used this many times in the r-pod and am very happy with it.
