Topic: Removing Rpod Blinds Posted: 22 Jul 2014 at 11:35am |
I'm in the process of installing a shelf over the bed on my Rpod 178. I need to remove the Forest River installed blinds and blind covers in order to do that. Has anyone removed one of these blinds before? I can't seem to find the screws and/or bolts that fasten them to the walls. Thanks,

I removed ours on a 2009 r-pod but I think the new ones may be similar. First remove the metal blinds and the blind brackets if your r-pod has them and then if I remember there are small L brackets remove them and the blind covers should come lose from the wall. If you have the fabric blinds I think it may be the same after removing the fabric blinds.

FYI- A lot of folks install a shelf above the blinds and don't go through the hassle of removing them. There is a long thread about this with pictures. I am going to Lowe's this week to pick up that 6' allen+ joss (?) slatted shelf, some 1.5" L brackets and some stout short mollys. Can't wait. Please save me from myself, I will be driving right by Camping World...

Jan, Thanks for chiming in. I also bought the 6' Allen & Ross slotted shelf and side brackets. It seems the A&R 6' shelf is about 1.25 inches short on each side. I was thinking about attaching the side brackets to some wood strips and using some 1 5/8 in dry wall screws to attach them to the walls.
Just curious what particular type of L bracket you're planning to use?

Cody, Do a search for shelf on the forum. Members have posted much more detailed and exact methods to do this. Photos too! Scroll through till you find them. I think your screws will be too long for the walls. Good luck, jan

After reading these posts, I'm trying to figure out why people are removing blinds? Previous owners of our 2011 182G removed them and a condition of the sale was putting the vinyl ones back over the window. I like to control privacy and/or light.

A lot of folks remove the mini blinds and replace them with curtains, we did this in the back where the bed is and used a heavy material with room darkening qualities. This helps to keep a lot of the heat out of the back. Goose

I wake myself up when I run into them at night. I like blinds in that they give some privacy but open easily, but again, they wake me up.
