I have heard that there have been some problems with the Bauer digital locks. Any evidence out there to support that?

Also, has the gooseneck faucet been discontinued? Again, I heard reports of leakage. Any truth to that?

Yep on both, they are no longer included in the 2015 build. Lock had been flakey, and the gooseneck has peeling metal?!? near the pulldown.
Neither are included in my 2015 build list, being built soon or maybe off the assembly line.

I can attest to the Bauer lock being flaky-  ours acted up within the first week, would lock ok but then wouldn't unlock half the time.  How'd you like to discover that if ALL your keys were insideCry
Bauer did replace it quickly with just a phone call, but I'd still rather have back the extra money it costs and a regular lock.
They also are known for consuming a set of 4 AA batteries in just a couple of weeks time...we were pre-warned about that at least by the dealer.

I bought my 178 last October and have had no problems with the lock and quite like it. I did replace the batteries once so far and lubricate it with Blaster (PTFE). As the pod is in my driveway I am going in and out quite a bit and do lock it at night.

Also, I keep this very handy...just in case I need to reprogram:

CoolI treat the lock as a puzzle...sometimes I win and sometimes it does...always leave the keys in the tv that has a hide a key.  Our kitchen faucet did not work out of the gate...under warranty but upgrade to a chrome without the large overhang.  Seems like getting the dealer to get info on warranty is like pulling teeth.

One more fix on the lock...found the strike plate was set to tight or on the jamb backwards...put some inward pressure on the door so it will release easier..or take the plate off and try it.   A dremel tool grinder to enlarge the strike plate opening. (works the same on house doors) Maybe even some graphite on the strike.

Can you take batteries out and JUST use it as a standard key lock? Or are there problems on that end also?

grease and a little adjustment did the trick on mine. I bought mine on Amazon. We've been using it for a few months with no issue since the grease and adjusting .

You don't have to take the batteries out. Just use the key, no problems.

Correct on not needing to have batteries to use the key  -BUT-   I'm sure everyone has noticed ever since they green'd up alkaline batteries a few years ago, when they go dead they LEAK.   Let the batteries go dead and sit for a bit you might never be able to use that lock again Unhappy

I also noticed when Bauer sent me the replacement they had changed the method of locking.  Used to be you had to enter your code to lock it.   Now you can lock it without the code...not real fond of that, yes it is convenient but if some joker presses the bottom two buttons he can lock it also...so better keep a spare key handy just in case.Smile
