    Posted: 22 Mar 2014 at 11:27am
I recently took delivery of a new Rpod 178 in early March.  I was inspecting the bottom panels of the Rpod and I noticed these rather strange 3 holes that penetrate the black fabric and styrofoam insulation.

All threes holes are near the front left side of the unit. Two of the holes are adjacent to each other.

Has anyone seen these holes on their unit?  Is this normal or something that should be repaired.

No, have not seen those holes.  Spray insulation is your friend.

Uh Oh! Snakes on a Pod!

Sorry...I really need to go camping. Smile

I've found quite a few mis-manufactured "features". Not a big deal. Just plugged, pegged, vacuumed, etc. Worth noting and fixing, but I think it goes along with pretty much any manufactured RV - at least in this price range.

I agree with above those are a mistake most likely from manufacture. They need to be patched and the fabric especially, you do not want water to penetrate to the other side of fabric which will cause the wood floor to rot.

Agreed. I would either spray foam or RTV them.

Thanks for the responses everyone especially from the senior members of this forum.  I think I got a nice "reality check" on Forest River RPOD manufacturing quality (or lack of).

It seems to me that purchasing a brand new RPOD without holes would not be an unreasonable thing to ask.  Maybe my expectations are too high.:-(

Maybe those holes are for some other option, or a running design change caused there to be "extra" holes. Ever look at the firewall or underside of a car? Lots of extra holes. Either way, I'd spray foam them.

Actually, most on here who have looked, and like us who have experience with other campers and brands, pretty much think that in their class, the R-pods are pretty well built. Stuff does happen. Your pod may have been pulled over something at some point, a piece of road debris may have struck it, a squirrel may have tried to get in.. who knows...

Goop it up.. go camping. I promise no major damage was done there. I have purposely cut bigger holes than that all the way through my pod.. Wink
