We reconfigured the under-seat hatch cover by cutting it in two. The attached images show how we made access to stored items much much easier.

FR must have made a design change recently. We picked up our 2014 178 two weeks ago and I noticed that the hatch cover under the left side dinette bench was already cut to size so only the end cushions must be removed to gain access to the storage area. The same is true for the right side. The panels are not hinged and easily raised up or removed.
