Topic: r-Dome Revisited Posted: 13 Feb 2014 at 8:02pm |
No screen skirt, however well tailored, can keep out the Minnesota mosquito or the Utah sand fly. I learned this well over the past few years.

Yes if we were ever go plan on using ours we'd mod it like Marwayne did. Looks and works better IMO.

Lots of helpful info here but...what size ground cover/carpet fits the r-dome best? We're picking up our 178 next week. Are we excited????

6x9 covers a lot of the dome floor but you'll have area left uncovered 8x12 mats cover nearly all of the dome floor but will stick out some in the front and on sides of some domes.

My old rpod was stolen and had just the fiberglass pole to the dome in it. I had the dome in the garage. I need a new pole but even dometic doesn't know how long it is. Can someone measure the fiberglass pole and tell me how long it is so I can get a replacement. I will owe you a cold beer

Just picked up our Rpod 178 yesterday and got a dometic cabana r dome for it. Today I tried to install it so that when we were at a campground I would know what I was doing. The problem I am having is that it will not stay attached to the Rpod. It is pulling out of the c channel easily. Any help would be appreciated

What color is the dome, and where did you get it from?

We have the same POD (2016 178) and the same RDome. We experienced the same problem the first time we set up the DOME. I can't say I know whether it's the track that is too large or the rope bead that is installed on the Dome that is too small. All I know is that the rope bead simply would not stay inside the track. So, I took a pair a big vice grips, wrapped some duct tape around the jaws to protect the track and I crimped the outside edges of the track every 18 inches or so, all along the track. It bends pretty easily. When I installed the Dome the next time it stayed put. You don't need to crimp it much...perhaps a sixteenth of an inch or so and you only need crimps every foot and a half. All you want to do is get the Dome to remain attached to the POD. Once the setup is complete, the spars of the Dome take the stress off the track and the rope bead. Hope this works for you.
