WinkHas any one added 'air tabs' to their Pods?  I belong to several car owners forums and some members swear that air turbulence tabs strategically placed on the roof and sides makes a big difference in the aerodynamics (mpg) of their vehicles. A couple of years ago, another forum member
and I ran some aerodynamic simulations of various tow vehicles plus Pods along with various
sized spoilers and their locations.  Spoilers did not seem to provide any significant decrease
in Pod drag.  I have seen several 'bread-box' shaped trailers with air tabs on the rear sides and
top, but was unable to question the owners whether or not the tabs helped increase mpg.

I have looked at the Air Tabs but have not broken down and bought any of them.  I have played different Tow Vechicles and also tried 2 different sized spoilers with no affect.  Where I did see a difference is how I load Kayaks on the top of the Tow Vechicles for a adding a bit more in MPG.  I do them in a V shape from the front.  I do need to do some more test as We have just added a 3rd one up on the roof now so that moved the rack around.  Hope to have 2 trips in September pulling that way.

I read about and have been curious myself.  Would love to see follow ups on this, it's a very interesting experiment.

When we were full timing in a 40 ft class A back in 2005, these air tabs caught on and many people added them to their coaches, but it was short lived as the consensus was that the only people who gained from them was the dealer who sold them.

I recognized that the mpg is better with my kayak on the roof top of the Nissan Xterra.

I tried to contact the Air Tab people and never got any reply.  I wanted them for my truck camper.

I don't think they're selling them anymore.
