Does anyone have any advice on using the microwave/convection oven?
It didn't seem to come with much direction.

The "manual" that came with ours is sketchy, and we hadn't used it much in the first two years. Last week I had time to play with it, and by carefully reading I was able to use it for all the functions. I know that I may be able to remember how to use it for this season, but next year I will have to do it again. I think I will copy the important pages and laminate them. Then I can keep the sheets next to the oven and have a chance of making it work again.

It's a great little oven, in my opinion -- once you figure it out.  It is a bit obtuse.  I can't tell you how to use it without looking at it, but we figured it out from the "manual".  Some of the instructions you just have to take on faith.  It works really well as a microwave and as a convection oven.  It seems a little more straight forward as a microwave.  I'll look at ours when I have a chance and see if I can't write up a little SOP for it.  One thing that surprised me is that it apparently has an exhaust fan that keeps running after it's done cooking.  That makes great sense, but it sounds like it's still working as a microwave when it's really just cooling down.

Best instructions for it are to use the little silver raised plate anytime you're using it as an oven, and to start off learning the temps by making chocolate chip cookies!

Other than that the hardest thing on it is setting the clock!

We've used ours to do a lot of cooking with already ... pot roast, turkey breast, baked potatos, chicken breasts, sweets and more.  I don't use the combo micro/conv settings ... either just microwave or convection.  It takes a little bit of time to figure out how to use the keypad and settings, but once you do you'll be fine.  Just remember a couple of things:
 
Cooking in Convection mode:
1. Always use the metal tray.
2. Use only cookware that you would use in a regular oven -- not plastic or melamine or anything else.
3. When cooking items for longer than 20 minutes either decrease the time a bit or decrease the temp a bit ... it cooks faster than in a regular oven.
4. You can pre-heat the oven before putting food in, which works better (once you figure out how to do it).
 
When cooking in Microwave mode, always follow the same rules as for a regular microwave.  Don't use the metal tray, don't use metal cookware, etc.

P&M is right on. use the convection oven the same as your oven at home. Convection ovens tend to cook things faster as the temp is more even from top to bottom. the micro wave is the same as home. I can almost smell the biscuits cooking.

Thanks for all the great advice. We are just back from a four day camping trip. 
Lots of rain so I decided to try the convection oven for chocolate chip cookies.
Worked great once I (meaning Steve) figured it out. 
Press convention.  Push the button for temperature (8 is 355 degrees, I think).
Then put in the amount of time you want it to bake.  Press start. 

I was going to invite everyone over for cookies but I didn't have an Internet connection. 
Maybe next time. LOL

Cookies are a great way to start, it's very easy to learn the specifics of your oven through a bit of trial and error and chocolatey goodness!
