It has a 4.0 liter, 260 HP. I appreciate the information. As it is I only get about 17-20 MPG since it is a high profile vehicle and has a  4x4.

Hey saluki camper, we have a 2013 FJ cruiser. We also, have a 177 r-pod. The Fj tows it fine, but gas mileage is the pits. Long hills, you have to be patient  but all in all we are happy with our set up.  I have been searching for anyone who can install an extra gas tank. Anyone out there that can point me in the right direction  would be great.

I'm curious about what mods to your '08 LR2 you made to get the electric brake hookup to work. Our LR2 came with a 4 prong wiring harness and we have been told that to hook up a 7 prong requires splicing and that the splicing will set off codes on the vehicle computer and freeze the vehicle. Did the Land Rover dealership help you? Which dealership was it?

Our dealership says it's impossible to install an adapter to change the 4 prong to a 7 prong. If you found an adapter that works, what brand is it?

What kind of electric brake controller did you buy? We are looking for advice to pull an r pod 171 with our 2008 LR2. Any you can offer would be great :)

Thanksgiving Day at the Salton Sea.  Somewhat cooler than normal, but nice and empty campground.  The next day we drove north, had a date shake, and then spent the rest of the weekend at the Anza Borrego state park.

Well, we did some math and figured that since we were very close to the GCVWR (combined weight rating) of our Sienna that we would upgrade our tow vehicle.  We are very happy and can't wait to do some test runs this spring!  I think the kids want to camp out this weekend since it'll be above freezing.

Here's picking up the trailer with the Sienna - it was tough to get traction with the front wheel drive, even with the WD Hitch.  And that was with no weight added in the trailer or the van.

Original setup

Here's what we decided to go with as a tow vehicle - 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel with the hemi.  It'll tow twice as much as the van and it's got AWD.  Big improvement!  Also, it still seats seven for moving around the kids and their friends.
New tow vehicle!

Here's where the rpod is resting until spring - our front yard Smile:

Nice upgrade.  We had an older Sienna and moved to a Suburban after a grueling trip to Florida.
