Yes, I towed my RP-177 plus a full truck-bed of stuff up to Seattle from Las Vegas and I went through the mountains in Northern CA and Oregon with no trouble at all. I do use an anti-sway bar on my trailer hitch plus trailer brakes and inflatable shocks on the truck. These all help with stability. My Tacoma is a 2006 TRD Double Cab (4 doors) with a V-6 engine and it has 140,000 miles on it. I bought it used 8 months ago.

Visor info posted on page 42 of this thread.

I just got back from my first long trip towing in the Oregon mountains. Some passes up to 5100ft. Tacoma towed great, but you do have to go slow. Some of the steepest grades we did at 40-45mph. But it was back roads with little traffic to frustrate behind us. Average mountain towing 12-13mpg. We can't afford a dedicated tow vehicle, so the Tacoma is a good balance between tow miles and commute miles.

2014 V6 4x4 Tacoma with tow package.  I pulled the trailer home from the dealership (200 miles) over one mountain pass and it handled it well.  Gas mileage went from average of 20 mpg down to 12.7 but I never lacked power.

You might want to remove the sign from the roof. That will help with gas mileage.

Hmmm. I never thought about using it as extra rental income. And "cabins" make it sound so "rustic"!
