Are the truck and RPod in your picture on level ground? It looks like the RPod is nose-up. You may need a lower shank on your hitch ball to level it out. It may just be the picture though.

No not level and yes it does need to be a touch lower when on level ground.

I bought this ball mounts from Weigh Safe. It's a little spendy but has a tongue weight scale built in to it. Has a ton of options from receiver class size, drop/rise size, and different ball sizes. It's super high quality and looks awesome on the truck. I remove the ball and mount it backwards to keep from barking my shins when it's not hooked up. Picked up this receiver lock at the same time: I have my hitch at the bottom - 8" drop.

We bought the Pod in 2014, and upgraded the tow vehicle from a 2004 Dodge Durango with 4.7 V-8 to a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3.0 V-6 turbodiesel.

What sort of mileage do you get with the turbodiesel compared with the V8?

Since we bought it in October, after putting the Pod away for the winter, I'll have to wait until the end of this month to answer that question, as far towing mileage. Non-towing, I get about 25 mpg highway with the diesel, compared to about 17 mpg with our V-8 Durango. We'd get 9 to 11 mpg towing. I'm hoping to get 16 or 17 mpg towing with the diesel (as well as no more struggling up long grades with the engine threatening to overheat, which is what was happening with our Durango!). |

Nice call on the JGC turbodiesel. Ive had a couple Grands (never a diesel though) and they are great SUV's. I am sure the mileage is gonna be sweet compared to the gasser version. If I was going back to an SUV it would either be yours or a Ford Explorer Sport with the Ecoboost.
