Hi, I'm a newbie RV'er, and my R-Pod 177 came with the awning. I've used it 4 times now, and found it really hard at first, cause I'm only 5"2". My friends would help me, but I've come up with a few tricks so I can put it up myself. I purchased a can of silicone spray, and I wiped the plastic piece that you put in the track with a cloth soaked in it. Then I push it through the track, and with the help of a light weight stepladder, guide it along the track until it hits one of the screws that holds the track on and stops (when you get it past the screw you can push it smoothly till the next screw it hits). I have also taken the entire front panel off, as I tied it open all the time anyways, and that's helped a lot also. There is a lot of fabric otherwise that makes it more difficult to put up.
I hope this helps a bit, I've had many compliments on the awning when it's all set up, and my friends with the big automatic roll out awnings are more than impressed with my "little extra room".
