I had wondered if the outdoor/porch light was left on would it melt or damage the lens, I have been looking for an led replacement, the bulb looks big enough to slow cook a 23 lb turkey. Enter Mr Senior Citizen. Donna and I did a 2 nighter at Local Hoosier National Forest, you guessed it, I left the outside light on all night. No damage, but the housing was warm to the touch. Also I have seen earlier posts on AC noise, I think ours is the 13,500 btu Dometic, the blower is noisy, but I don't know what is worse, constant blower noise with the thump when the compressor engages or let it cycle on or off. It was Hot Friday night 6/15 and we needed the air. That little AC will freeze you out.

We leave our porch light on all night when camping, the lens has never melted, but we are on our third bulb. I am just going to buy an led replacement for it in the future.

When I was in AutoZone last week, I noticed they have started stocking a few LED bulbs - I think for around $17.  I didn't really stop & look but, it seems as though they had some of the large metal base bulbs (1157????).  No doubt, you've read the many posts on internet sources.

Yep, that A/C sure was noisy.......and I wear 2 hearing aids!

I have change some of the interior lights to led, and I just bought everything off of ebay. I just did a search for led 1156 and there are tons of them listed for about $5 shipped.

For what it is worth, our A/C does not "thump" when the compressor cycles.... Once the camper gets to temperature it seems to cycle on and off quite a bit, but no thumping.

Also, how do you get the cover off of the porch light? I looked, but it was not obvious and I don't want to break it.

My AC does not thump either. My Wife and I like the white noise of the fan so we leave the fan running all the time and we don't even notice if the compressor cuts in unless we are listening for it.

That thump wakes me up about a dozen times a night.  Leaving the fan on low helps offset it some and last time I discovered leaving the radio on helped me sleep through the thumps.

I wonder if the A/C "thump" is something (like the compressor) a little loose. I would be interested to hear if anyone with this issue ever had it checked out, or checked it out themselves.

We haven't used our air much, but I don't recall any thump and I am a light sleeper.  If mine was thumping I would have it checked  out.
