This afternoon I was doing my preflight on the Pod and the LP gas detector started to go off. I have never had a problem before, no gas smell, triple check stove knobs, no smell inside. it finally reset after I cut the power to it. We are heading out tomorrow afternoon for a 2 nighter and I am a little concerned. I am off tomorrow and will do a through check over on it, reset it, use a lp gas lighter to do a check on it. I think the dectector is a little flaky, I know these are not hi end units. I can tap it and it will quit screaming. Powered it down and the green light came on, before that the red light was on. I will be very careful this upcoming trip, windows cracked, bath vent open , fan on low. anyone else had a flaky lp gas dectector ?

Wow - I had same experience just last weekend. We were all in the camper, I started the AC unit, and then a loud screaming started happening and ran everyone out. I finally figured it out - that it was the lp gas detector down there under the dinette - was it ever loud. I pressed the button (the light remained red) - then finally turned green - I have no idea...

I had the same problem with the LP detector going off several times.  I eventually completely disconnected all propane and removed the tank-still it went off-so I decided that the detector was bad.  I called the company that made it-they were knowledgeable and very helpful.  They said it needed to be replaced periodically-there is a manufacture date and discard date on each unit-they are good for about 3 years.  Sure enough, mu pod is a 2009. .  So, I ordered a new unit and problem solved-for about $75 !!  I also bought a battery powered unit as a back-up.

ps-I've been lurking and reading for a long time-I've gotten a LOT of info here and done a lot of mods.  Hopefully I will get around to writing and photos about them

I used some Lysol spay during cleanup and had the same result ... I also remember hearing that steam/mist from shower would do the same. It's a 'something is in the air' detector  !

Read a piece in our paper about newbie RVers, the do's and don'ts. The one line read, if you have farting pets in your RV it can set off your LP detector if the animal lets loose close to the detector. This probably applies to humans, too.
If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Holy smokes - that makes since then... not a fart, per se, but our black tank needed dumping - bad....  we didn't do it just yet, turned on AC and then I'm sure there was methane gas in the restroom that blew down with the AC currents - makes total sense actually.... i wonder?
