As it's never too early to start planning, here's the thread for ideas on where & when to do the 2012 NE Roundup.

I'm going to reserve the following 2 posts for future easy reference on where & when we decide, who's attending and links to other Roundup relevant info such as activities & restaurants.

Other Roundup Relevant Info: (Revision: 6/20/2012)

Area Attractions
1) Eaglesmere is about 10 miles to the west. A cute little artsy town in the middle of the mountains.
2) There are also a number of close by state parks with terrific geologic character, including the 'Grand Canyon of PA'.
3) Podsible Dream found a neat road house close by the campground entrance called the Sullivan County Roadhouse that has tremendous character and obviously a lot of local characters!

Our suggestions for the NE Roundup for 2012 are:

July 28 & 29 VT, Harpoon Brewery New England BBQ Championships. Stay @ KOA Quechee
Oct 6 & 7 VT, Harpoon Brewery, Oktoberfest Stay @ KOA Quechee

There's also Lake Placid, the Berkshires to catch the Boston Symphony, Cape Cod, NH, Maine (Bar Harbor?) or even upstate NY if everyone's coming from south and west.

Any ideas?

Tracey, we had contemplated someplace up near Lake George for a summer roundup, thinking about it before. There are some active folks up in upstate NY that should have some knowledge of campgrounds suitable for group get togethers.

Lake George sounds good.  We had originally planned to stop by Lake George for a few days on our way from Watkins Glen to Windsor VT but had to cancel enroute due to a/c & fridge failure in that heatwave last summer.  That was a brutal 2 weeks.  We had never seen so many RVs and TVs pulled over on the side of the road due to overheating or in the process of being towed.

There is a nice campground just outside of Bar Harbor that we used a few years ago on the way back from Nova Scocia.  That would be fun...

Any other ideas? Some good speculation will help generate interest. We found some interesting touring in the Hudson Valley - from West Point to Albany on both sides of the river. We'd be happy to do some more exploring. It would be an easy side trip to Cooperstown, the Berkshires, and the Catskills.

I'll start looking into campgrounds.

While we loved Watkins Glen State Park, we don't recommend it for July/August because it's too hot (both for people & the TV).  It's also dry-camping as there are no hookups and generators are only permitted for a few hours a day just to refresh a battery.  The Fingerlakes area is really pretty and there are lots of wineries, breweries and artisan cheese places to try.  The only thing is that we'd need to tow on a highway as the area is really hilly and not TV-friendly.

There's the Fingerlakes Wine festival in July (at the Watkins Glen Racetrack) that we'd NOT recommend bc it's too crowded both at the event and camping on site.  Plus, it was stressful as there were lots of drunk people that brought their own fireworks and were setting them off over their own trailers all day and all night. Star (Fire hazard anyone?)

We liked Herkimer KOA (for the campground flyfishing Tongue) and the proximity to the Heidelburg bakery. But there doesn't seem to be any other major attractions nearby.

We also heard good things about the Newburg KOA but haven't tried it yet.
