We purchased out 17 in June 2010 and have used it extensively.  We like the extra butt space in the center of the unit.  We have had NO problems or concerns with the unit with about 10,000 miles.  Our unit came from the dealer with axle risers and I certainly glad it did. I have had no drags anywhere we have taken it. You will be glad you put them on.
Best wishes with your new 177. I am sure you will like the unit.

We love our 177, and being full sized people wanted the extra room the slide gives us.  If you liked your 171 you will really like the 177.  No cover or risers here, but may get the cover this year.

We are a bit south of you in Mayville, WI in Dodge County.

We now have that down to a 5 minute chore. My wife gets on a tall ladder on the non-door side of the POD and I am on the door side. She gets the cover over the antenna and the A/C unit and directs me to feed the cover over the POD. When it is fed over the back end we adjust the side to side fit. The cover is invaluable. Also, before covering I put saran wrap secured with masking tape over the outside vents to prevent insect entry.
When done we crack open the bathroom vent and get a small de-humidifier going. No condensation, no vapor build-up, no problems.
