Topic: Porcupine Mountains rPod Roundup 2012 Posted: 27 Aug 2012 at 10:38am |
Mark, Cindy & I couldn't agree more; it was a wonderful time. All five of the pod couples we met were fine folks, and thanks for hosting the Hot Dog/Cold Beer Campfire soiree Friday night. Already looking forward to next year!
Regards, Phil & Cindy Statz Madison, WI

Only three weeks til the Porcupine Mountain Music Festival r-pod round-up. Apparently 5 podders will be in Union Bay campground, thanks to HuronSailor's sounding of the round-up horn. Any more going to be in the area at the other campgrounds? I'm sure looking forward to meeting you.

We reserved site 80 at the Union Bay campground. Just got the 2011 pod 177 last week but now have to find a dealer who can repair a bad leak in the back of the Thetford toilet, which I was aware of before we bought it. The previous owner did not properly winterize it last fall, so I fear even worse. A lesson for me. I'm just glad that everything else seems to work great. Can't begin to tell you how much this forum has helped, since I had no manual or anyone to tell me how things worked.

Great, congrats on your new pod! Let me know which site you're in and I'll add you to the map. I'll also post contact info for the other campgrounds, thanks for the info.

Just bought a 2011 model 177 this week, but we reserved a campsite at Union Bay several weeks ago in anticipation. Could be trouble getting a site now for the Music Festival weekend.
There is a very nice Township Park campground on Lake Superior in Ontonagon (15 miles east), and a private campground called River Pines is still operating in Ontonagon as well I believe.
We hope to see some podders there. I'll be picking your brains on tips and techniques with this little wonder.

Philstat, glad you had a good trip and made it back before all that wind down south. im sure mpg would be bad in 90mph winds. Another nice park on the way to the porkies is the one on Lake Gogebic. Check it out

Upwild,
we just got back from a 15 day journey to GA and FL with the pod. We were greeted with a blizzard back in Madison WI. Has snowed for three days since. What a way to come home! The Pod did very well being towed behind our 11' Dodge caravan. We averaged 13mpg, the lows being 9.5 in heavy rains and headwinds, to a high of over 15 on the back roads. No "tail wagging" with a standard hitch setup. GA and FL have some really great State Parks, which is what we stayed in pretty much the whole trip. Looking forward to meeting other Podders in the Porkies.
