Resubmitting this invitation to R-Pod Owners . . . .For any of you in the southeast who may be interested in camping in northwest Georgia . . . .
Diane

. . . . . The first weekend in November, some vintage Shastas and some Airstreams will be at McKinney Army Corps of Engineers Campground in Cartersville, Ga. It was suggested to me that "Maybe you and some other R-PODs might like to attend."

The campground is on Lake Allatoona about 3 or 4 miles off I-75 at exit 278 (Wade Green Road).  Many of the campsites are lakeshore campsites.  Reservations can be made at www.recreation.gov

If you are interested, you can find out more info at:

My family and I are going to take these nice folks up on their invitation (we're not camping in their loop though) and make it our last campout before winterizing the Pod.  It would be great if other Podders would join us.

We just got back from Cloudland Canyon SP- an incr3edible GEM!
We are going to Black Mountain SP in September and Oconee SC SP in October. We haven't booked November yet. What is Cartersville like? What is there to do? We love hiking, biking and kayaking.
Thanks.

Cartersville is a rural town, about 30-40 miles from Atlanta.  But one incredible thing it has is the Tellus Science Museum.  I love that place!  Check it out: http://www.tellusmuseum.org/

I've never stayed at McKinney which I think must be closer to Acworth than Cartersville.  But Lake Allatoona is huge and boasts several campgrounds including McKinney.  As far as what there is to do on Lake Allatoona, check out http://allatoona.sam.usace.army.mil/

Uphillracer, hope this helps.  You sure are getting around in your Pod! Smile

We love getting around in our POD Smile
We hope to take it cross country in the next few years. First up the East coast to Maine, and then across to Alaska!
